About the Artist

A believer in the true roots of the art of tattoo being a rite of standing out, a movement against the status quo, Fossil enjoys working with clients to promote unique and individual tattoo designs that don't fall into the realm of the everyday.

Fossil is a long-standing artist, cartoonist and illustrator, who began drawing and painting in 1982. He studied Graphic Design and Animation at the Atlanta College of Art in Atlanta, Georgia, so in addition to merely being able to draw, Fossil is trained in Color Theory, Typography, and knows the fundamentals of Graphic Design. He enjoys big, bold pieces with plenty of color and grayscale, and is always looking to do more.

His artistic influences range from Bluth to Gurney, Coop to Otomo, Nagel to Hewlett, comic artists, tattoo flash artists, professional animators, and everywhere in between. He utilizes this vast array of inspirations in his tattoo designs.

A dermagraphic artist since 2002, he enjoys individualizing existing designs, or custom-creating new pieces of body art, based either on a simple concept, or completely from scratch. He also has experience working with people of varied ethnic backgrounds, and is versed on which colors would be best suited for the skin canvas. He takes the time to get to know his clients and the designs they're interested in, and does his best to make the tattoo speak for its wearer. Whether it is the client's first time under the needle, or they're a seasoned tattoo veteran, Fossil ensures his clients feel as comfortable as possible, be it in a shop, on the road, or at conventions across the country.
